Often we go through life not feeling able to verbalise the internal experiences we have. It can leave us feeling misunderstood, alone, unseen and unheard. Naming things for the first time in a space that is confidential, reliable and non-judgemental, can help us to experience relief, insight and connectedness.
There are no expectations in therapy and the relationship between client and therapist is imperative to talking therapy being successful. It is a space where you don’t need to worry about naming those scary, complex or overwhelming feelings but rather be supported to think about them in a curious and thoughtful way.
Over time, this brings awareness and compassion for the self and allows for more meaningful, connected relationships in the present and future.
Therapy Sessions are charged at £55 each week for individual 50 minute therapy sessions. I accept payment by cash, card or bank transfer.
I have a limited number of low cost spaces available so do ask if you are experiencing financial difficulty, on benefits or studying.
No, you don’t need to be experiencing a crisis to start therapy. Often, therapy can support us to prevent crisis from happening later on by giving us a space to talk about our experiences and our feelings. If you have something particular you wish to discuss, this is okay but it is also not imperative. Come as you are, we will start there.
If you are experiencing an acute mental health crisis, please utilise the below numbers:
Sometimes clients need to cancel session for various reasons. The space is yours that we both commit to for the duration of our work together. Therefore, all cancellations (outside of holiday) are charged for. However, any cancellations received with 3+ days notice will only be charged 50% of the session cost.
Yes, I take leave over Easter, Summer and Christmas, usually, 2 weeks, 3-4 weeks and 2 weeks respectively. Outside of this, clients can take up to three weeks of their own leave where they will not be charged. I communicate my leave to my clients at the start of each year or when we begin working together. I ask that I receive at least one week’s notice for all leave.
Absolutely. All sessions are held in a confidential space, and as a registered member of BACP I adhere to their Ethical Framework. I meet weekly with my clinical supervisor where I discuss my cases to ensure I’m providing the highest standard of psychotherapy I can.
If I believe there is a risk to yourself or someone else, I may need to break confidentiality to ensure everyone’s safety. If this were to happen, where possible, we would talk about this first.
There is no guideline as to how long a person should be in therapy. Our sessions are open-ended. This means I will be dedicated to working with you in the time slot agreed for as long as we feel in necessary or appropriate. At any point you wish to end therapy, we will discuss this and bring our sessions to a close.
After our initial consultation, we will agree a time to meet weekly. In our first session we will take some time to understand why you’ve come for therapy and a brief overview of your history. I will take you through the terms and conditions for our work and give you time to ask any questions you may have. It may be that our first few sessions look like this before we get into the ‘work’. After this, I will hold space for you to start sessions wherever feels right for you and go where you go.
